Smart Watches? Useful?

(Artificial intelligence was used to help write this article)

Apple watches, Samsung Galaxy Watches, Pixel Watches. There are so many of them, but some people have questioned “Why are they useful?” or “What’s in it for me to buy them?”. The main question for this article is “Are smart watches useful than “regular” or manual watches, and why?

Well, the answer I would say is “it depends” They are useful, but not for all people. I use an Apple Watch Series 3 (I know it’s an oldie, but it works). Let’s go over the main features that most smart watches have.

1. Health Features

A lot of smart watches have some amazing health features and safety features to have your health data (even sometimes the data that doctors have) at a glance. Sometimes, even smart watches will detect early signs of health problems due to factors of heart rate, and more*

* Always rely on doctor’s suggestion first, smart watches may not be as accurate as they say, but they are a good feature to notify something you should bring up to your doctor first

2. Workout Data

Another awesome feature would be Workout Data. Both workout data and health data run hand and hand together. It’s good if you are going on a run and you want to track your miles and heart rate live just on your wrist.

3. Contacting and Emergencies

Most smart watches also give features where you can contact loved ones. It can also help during emergencies (example: Both Galaxy Watches and Apple Watches have fall detection* where it identifies when you take a hard fall)

* Only certain watches may detect a hard fall. If this feature is a must, do research before buying the watch.

4. Calendar Features and More

Hey there! Ever been in a spot where you can’t reach your phone, but need to stay on top of your schedule? That’s where a smart watch swoops in to save the day! It can ping you about calendar reminders and important notifications, even when your phone is tucked away in your pocket.

5. Why people may not need smart watches or want them

Some individuals may prefer to stick with their manual watches due to various considerations. The classic appeal and aesthetic of traditional timepieces are highly valued by many, who find that smartwatches do not quite capture the same timeless allure. Furthermore, the simplicity and low maintenance of analog watches resonate with those who wish to avoid the distractions and regular charging requirements associated with smartwatches. The meticulous craftsmanship and intricate mechanics of manual watches also hold immense appeal for aficionados who appreciate the artistry and precision of these timeless accessories.

Privacy concerns also play a significant role in individuals’ decisions to not want smartwatches. The constant tracking and monitoring capabilities of smartwatches can be off-putting for those who prioritize their privacy and are wary of excessive data collection associated with these devices. By choosing to continue using manual watches, these individuals maintain a sense of discretion and autonomy over their personal data, reinforcing their preference for traditional watches.

Ultimately, the choice between a smartwatch and a manual watch is deeply personal, shaped by a variety of factors including style preferences, practical considerations, and concerns about privacy and data usage. Each individual’s decision reflects a unique blend of values and personal preferences.

The Finale: Are smart watches useful.

Yes! They give you so much data at a glance, and they have many safety features. However, that doesn’t mean that people will get them. As I have already said, some people have reasons they prefer manual watches instead, however that doesn’t mean that the smart watches aren’t useful.
