iOS 17 – The era of more customization on iPhone.

iOS 17, although not much groundbreaking features, is still amazing. Apple announced it at the WWDC event (2023). Here is all the information and features we know about iOS 17.

Customization

Like Android’s system, customization is coming more and more on Apple Devices, like when widgets were introduced to be on a persons home screen on iOS 14.

Contact Posters

One big customization thing would be Contact Posters. It’s kinda like a “wallpaper but for call screen”. You can customize it and family and friends with iPhones will see it anywhere you can communicate and share things.

StandBy

Customize with widgets like a clock and callender

StandBy mode is an amazing feature that makes the iPhone useful while charging. Just put your iPhone in landscape while charging. It kind of reminds me of Apple Watch. If your iPhone has always on display, this will work with what is showing on the always on display.

People have wondered how it works with devices that don’t have always on display. When devices that do not have always on display, just tap the display, and the StandBy mode will appear.

Stickers

On iOS 16, Apple introduced where you can take things from images and share them almost anywhere (message, photos, etc). Now, you can turn them into stickers, which can be used for iMessage, and other Apple related apps.

Safety

Before customization, safety is very important. Apple introduced safety features for people (especially younger children with iPhone)

Check in

One of the safety features apple introduced is Check In. Let’s say a family member says they will arrive home at 11:00 PM. They can share check in, and if the persons iPhone does not see that you made progress towards your location, iPhone will check in with you. No response after check in? iPhone will share information like location with the family or friend you shared the check in with.

Communication and Sensitive Content Protection

Apple implemented blocks for sensitive content shares for things like Airplay, Messages, and more. This could be a good thing for younger kids.
